Start Spreading The News

"A Bright Future..."
"The Glory of the best work truck"
"Information like a Hollywood insider"
"Less stress"

Mark 6:53-56 made me ponder how good news is distributed,  Word of mouth and the fleet of foot worked pretty well in Jesus' day.

Jesus and the disciples anchored in Gennesaret and were immediately recognized.  People ran throughout the region so the sick could be carried to Jesus for healing. Wherever Jesus went, villages, towns, countryside, the sick were placed in the marketplace so they could beg Him for healing.  They merely wanted to touch the edge of His cloak because they'd heard all who touched Him were healed.

The people of the region had heard about the healing power of Jesus.  They knew what He looked like.  They also knew of the healing success rate.  They knew all of this because they heard it from someone else.  People, then as today, spread the news and promise of a better life.

I jotted down just one cycle of TV commercials.  I was promised
            a bright future through knowledge;
            the glory of the best working truck;
the knowledge of a Hollywood insider; and
            less stress through my furniture.

Most of what we advertise to each other, through word of mouth or the media, is the promise to feel good, to feel better, to feel the best.  The quest for the good, better and best excites us.  When we think we have the "cure all" we also "run through the region" and tell everyone.

Yet the good, the better and the best in life is a free gift that is available right in front of me.

Jesus made me good when He gave His life for my sins--something I, nor anyone else on Earth could do.

Jesus makes my life better by leading my life--I think I've proven that when I take the lead, I make a complicated mess of life.

Jesus has the best and brightest of future for me- an eternal home with God.

Life can't get better than life with Jesus.  Guess I'd better put on  my track shoes and spread the word!

Waiting for God to reveal His glory!

I am expecting golden!

The human designed camera cannot capture the rose gold.

Thanks, God.

Sunset interlude #9

The illusive green glass

Today I went on a hunt much as we hunt for the good life. I trekked through the surf looking for beach glass. It was easy to find bits of brown glass. If you need a brown beer bottle reassembled, I have what you need.

I spent too much time looking down at my feet. I happened to look up and to the right and saw a large piece of green glass. But I am old and slow and a wave took it away just as I reached for it.

I was determined to find that green glass. The next half hour I swiveled my head and tried to find the green glass. I found several other treasures and met a new young friend who gave me more glass.

As I started up to my belongings to finish my hunt, there it was behind me a large piece of green glass.

But that's not all!  At my new perch to watch the sunset

I looked down and found another piece of green glass!

Life is full of surprises if we keep looking!
We need to look down and to the left and right and even behind.

Don't put God in the corner of your life.
God is The Center.

Sunset interlude #6

Never alone.

Tonight no one joined me for my daily trek to watch the sunset.  There were many strangers around and often that makes me feel even more alone.

Yet when I watched the sun slip below the horizon I knew I am never alone. The creator of the sunset is always with me. The daily sunset reminds me I am never alone whether with people or without people.

Sunset interlude #5

“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters.”
Psalm 24:1-2

Lift up your heads, you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is he, this King of glory? The Lord Almighty— he is the King of glory.”
Psalm 24:1-2, 7-10 NIV

Sunset interlude #4

What to do when it's too cloudy to see the sunset?

Remember a good one from the past!

Sunset Interlude #3

"It's going to happen but we won't see it."  A fellow sunset watcher made the comment as she left a mediocre sunset. A thick layer of fog lay low on the horizon. We waited hoping for the final burst of vivid color but we only saw the faint rosy edges on the upper clouds.

The other side of the clouds must be gorgeous.  God has prepared a gorgeous home for me on the "other side."

I will remember my promised future on the other side when life seems mediocre.

Sunset Interlude #2

Don't let the dark clouds of the day prevent you from remembering God's faithfulness during the day.

God will make those dark clouds beautiful!

Sunset interlude #1

What do I think as I watch the sun set?

1. Satisfied. God has given me another day. God satisfied my debt when Jesus paid the price for my sins.

2. Faithful. God created the sun to come up every single day and set every single day. He is just as faithful to provide for me every single day.

3. New. Every minute is new. I take dozens of photos at each sunset because each moment is unique in color and form. Each moment God gives me is unique and beautiful.

4. Ahhhh
